Before I begin, let me just say that I am flabbergasted. Okay, perplexed. Astounded. How about… really really excited?
Some of you may know that I’ve been working on a YA Fantasy Novel (interim title: Silas’ Hill) for about five years now. I recently entered it into Fictionary’s Finish Your Novel Contest, and to my great bewilderment (okay, I used a Thesaurus for that one) I ended up winning. You can read the official announcement here if you like.
This means several things, which I have typed out here, partially to just see the big picture:
- I am going to be a published author at the ripe age of 21
- I will be posting a little less poetry and a little more about the whole becoming-an-author-thing
- My blog will eventually migrate to my author website, which I will slowly be building up in the next few months
There’s a song by the Austrian kids’ choir KISI, that goes “before each new beginning comes an ending” and I think it really captures all of this. Becoming a (published) author is going to be amazing, but with it come responsibilities, marketing, new experiences, and a whole lot of learning.
So here’s a thank you to all you who have followed my blog and made [insertcleverwordplay] an awesome little corner of les internet. I will continue writing and posting poetry, but I will eventually move to a different site. It is my sincere hope that you will all accompany me on that journey.
